When Susie Pratt came down from Auckland to show at Jonathan Smart Gallery, we thought there would be no better opportunity to throw a economics tea party at HSP. Hazel Henderson is a futurist and evolutionary economist whose tasty looking diagrams outlining the structure of society entranced Pratt. Joining forces with Kate Montgomery, the two constructed a particularly lurid Hazel Henderson Layer Cake; not only delicious but educational! The different layers of the cake represent the different strata of society, starting with the Private Sector on top, and a luscious green layer of Mother Nature on the bottom. Pratt takes particular delight in the generalising effect of diagrams such as Ms. Henderson's outline of society, and we all decided there was no better course of action but to tuck in!
